Project Leaders

WestGrid emerged from a vision.

Five co-principal investigators, based at institutions across British Columbia and Alberta, recognized researchers' computational and collaborative needs were extending beyond the existing tools and technologies. Together, these five project leaders founded WestGrid in the Spring of 2004 with the involvement of a Chief Technology Officer, Director of Operations, Collaboration/Visualization Specialist, technical support staff at partner institutions and more than 250 researchers, postdoctoral fellows and students. WestGrid's launch was the culmination of many months and manhours spent orchestrating the design, installation and commissioning of the facilities.

Today, WestGrid has grown to represent 14 partner institutions across four provinces.
The management team has grown since 2004, but the vision remains the same -- to enable researchers across western Canada to take advantage of WestGrid's powerful tools to push the bounds of discovery and collaborate with colleagues around the world.

This section includes a list of WestGrid's current Executive Members as well as its five founding co-principal investigators.
